A Chris Zok strike in the 55th minute put Rabs ahead, he added a second in the 71st minute to end the scoring and to seal another pre-season victory for Rob Roy.

Rob Roy 3 v Harestanes Amateurs 1. (Half Time 1-1).

Harestanes took the lead mid-way through the first half, Paul Craig equalised in the 35th minute. Billy Jones put Rabs ahead 15 minutes from time with Paul McQuilken adding a third 4 minutes from time as Rabs ran out 3-1 winners against a very good Harestanes side.

Brendon Bell, Rob Roy's goalkeeper when they defeated Benburb in the 1943 Scottish Junior Cup final, died on the 9th July 2008 aged 88, his funeral took place on the 17th July at New Monkland Cemetery.

Brendon signed for Rob Roy in December 1941, having played for Maryhill Harp. Following the Scottish Cup success he signed for Dumbarton in July 1943.
