Rabs made one enforced change from their last match against Kilbirnie Ladeside with Brian Wardle injured Andy Ward was making his first appearance since the 5th September.
Rabs got off to a whirlwind start by taking the lead with only two minutes on the clock Paul McQuiken lost his marker and sent a crisp volley high past the Peasy keeper. Maxwell had to receive treatment following a kick in the face. Rabs continued to dominate the early stages Carter fired over then minutes later sent an inviting cross into the home danger area only for the trialist keeper to punch the ball from the head of Feroz. Ward was unlucky not to make proper contact from a MacDonald free-kick then at the other end Bell confidently tipped a Coulter free-kick over the bar.
In the 20th minute Feroz tried an ambitious long range effort which failed to trouble the Peasy keeper, however two minutes later they doubled their lead when Paul McQuilken cottoned on to a poor pass back to fire home from an acute angle. A minute later he squandered a chance to notch himself a hat-trick when he dispossed Jordan in mid-field but his hurried shot was high.
Rabs were playing some neat football a move involving Feroz, McKay and Carberry sent Anderson free on the left but his curling shot went past the post. Feroz then had a powerful shot brilliantly saved by the home keeper. Rabs increased their lead a minute from the break a high ball into the Petershill penalty box was headed on by Ward only for defender Heffron to head the ball into his own goal
Half Time; Petershill 0 v Rob Roy 3.
Rabs made their first substitution in the 52nd minute by sending on Sheridan for MacKay. Peasy continued to loft high balls into the Rabs box which were all easy meat for Kevin Bell. The home side were guilty of poor finishing Coulter fired past when in a good scoring position. From a McQuilken pass Murray fired just past then Ward had a goalbound volley blocked.
Rabs made a further change in the 68th minute when Fulton replaced Maxwell with Sheridan moving back. Heffron did well to clear a Fulton cross before Anderson could make contact. The Springburn side pulled one back in the 79th minute when substitute Alan Lindsay fired past Bell via the base of the left hand post.
In the 84th minute Muir came on for Anderson. With three minutes remaining Feroz crashed a vicious shot against the post then in the final minute Kevin Murray took advantage of an exposed home defence to make it four against his former team.
Full Time; Petershill 1 v Rob Roy 4.
Verdict; A good all round display by the visitors who ran out easy winners and will go into next weeks Emirates Cup-tie with confidence.
Ref Watch; An error ridden afternoon from Referee Graham. Some baffling decisions by the Ayrshire whistler, lacking consistency over the 90 minutes. |
