Rabs restored Kevin Bell and Brian Vaugh to the starting line-up, New signing Brian McKay was out due to an injury he picked up in last weeks win over Vale of Clyde.
It took only two minutes for Pollok to get off to a dream start, Rabs defence failed to clear, the ball was swept out to the right wing and when the ball was crossed into the goalmouth Bryan Dingwall was first to it to nod past Bell.
Eleven minutes later Pollok doubled their lead and again it was due to a defensive mistake, Bell's clearance was collected by Essler who first timed the ball forward, Wardle failed to head clear leaving Alan Waddell with all the room and time in the world to lob the ball over the advancing Bell.
The visitors went three ahead in the twenty fifth minute when a Wardle clearance was picked up by Alan Waddell fully thirty yards from goal, he took one touch and sent the ball screaming past Bell.
Rabs came close on a number of occassions but generally were well controlled by the towering Joyce and his defence. Dingwall nearly snatched a fourth a minute before the break but Bell was alert to his neat flick on.
Half Time; Rob Roy 0 v Pollok 3
Rabs made two changes at half time bringing on Gray and Docherty for Vaugh and McQuilken. Pollok were down to ten men eight minutes into the second period when Dingwall was sent packing by Referee Craig for dissent. The one man advantage seemed to give Rabs a lift and Joyce was forced to clear a Fulton cross over his own bar.
Rob Roy were awarded a penalty in the 53rd minute when Essler was pushing in the box, Jamie Docherty stepped up to send the ball past the diving Robertson to make it 1-3. A minute later Docherty had the ball in the net again only to be denied by the assistants flag. The substitute was unlucky a few minutes later when he just failed to connect with a MacDonald freekick.
At the other end McGeown's freekick dipped over the bar then McInally came close with a decent effort . With four minutes remaining Rabs sent on Moore for Hughes. The final chance fell to the Lok with Dillon sending his freekick high. Pollok played out the last few minutes to the final whistle which went to the sounds of disenchantment from the Rabs support.
Full Time; Rob Roy 1 v Pollok 3.
Verdict; Three down in the first 25 minutes, Rabs never looked like they would recover. Picked up in the second half but were playing against a 10 man Pollok side. Rarely troubled an impressive Pollok defence.
Ref Watch; Kept the match under control and the game flowing. Not popular with the travelling support due to Dingwall's sending off. |
