A Dull Draw.
By Ian.

Rob Roy made three changes for the derby against Kilsyth Rangers bring in McInally, Moore and Hughes.

Rabs should have raced into a three minute lead when home keeper O'Boyle's clearance landed at Moores feet at the edge of the penalty box but with only the keeper to beat the striker blasted well past the post. In Kilsyth's first raid Lennox did well to block a fierce Tough shot. Hughes set up Moore who brought out a fine save from O'Boyle then at the other end a long Scott cross found the head of Tough but Bell was equal to it.

From a MacDonald freekick Anderson raced down the left wing but was too strong with his cross and it went over the bar. In the thirty third minute Rabs suffered an injury blow when Moore limped off having suffered a hamstring injury to be replaced by Mackie. A minute later Hughes latched on to a powerful Bell clearance but his final effort drifted wide. Before the half time break Rabs were enjoying the bulk of the play without troubling the Rangers defence to any extent. Lennox headed into the side netting and Carberry's snap shot from outside the box was easily taken by O'Boyle.

Half Time ; Kilsyth Rangers 0 v Rob Roy 0

In the opening few minutes of the half Mackie had a shot blocked in front of goal then Neville had his free kick headed for a corner by Ward. Play become scrappy for a spell with neither side looking likely to score. With twenty two minutes remaining Rabs replaced Fulton with Gray and two minutes later the substitute send over an accurate free-kick which Hughes headed over.

In a Kilsyth break Dalrymple broke clear but his effort lacked power and was collected by Bell. In the final ten minutes Rob Roy pushed for the winner, Mackie rifled over from the edge of the box,Gray had a free-kick headed clear then Anderson from a Gray cross saw his drive held by O'Boyle who was having a good game in the Kilsyth goal.

There was a scare for Rabs eight minutes from the end when Bell had to stretch to claw away a net-bound lob from Scott, the keeper was in action again a minute later this time saving a high Doyle header after a dangerous Jarvis cross. With five minutes remaining Rabs made their third change sending on Docherty for Hughes. Last chance fell to the Duncansfield side when they were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box but the Rabs defensive wall did its job blocking Neville's kick.

Full Time ; Kilsyth Rangers 0 v Rob Roy 0.

Verdict;- Not a great of football, for spells it was scrappy, Rabs had the bulk of the play but their finishing was woeful. It was game inwhich could have been played until the cows came home and neither side would have scored.

Ref Watch;- An easy game for Referee Nicholl to control without any major decisions to make. There can be little complaints over his four bookings. A good refereeing performance by the experienced whistler.
