Rob Roy on ice
Rob Roy's bid to jump-start their floundering league campaign has been put on ice - thanks to a combination of weather and cup action.
Rab's game was cancelled on Saturday, while this Saturday sees the Kirkintilloch team travel to take on Blantyre Vics in the third round of the New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup. Jimmy Lindsay's squad have recently dropped from third to fifth in the Premier Division table after claiming only two points from their last three fixtures. But the players will be thankful that other results went in their favour at the weekend. Third plced Ashfield and fourth placed Clydebank lost - leaving Rabs trailing both rivals by just two points with three games in hand. Rob Roy take on Blantyre Vics on Saturday at Castle Park. Kick off is at 2pm.

EVENING TIMES 16th MARCH 2013
Behind the scenes at the Rabs, co-manager Derek Frye has intimated his intention to quit the Kirkintilloch club at the end of the season. Rather bemusingly, his former club Ardrossan Winton Rovers have gone public to say "Freddie" will be taking up their team reins again, however Rabs co-gaffer Jimmy Lindsay was remaining non committal on his close friend's intended whereabouts while denying whispers of a backroom team fall-out.
He said " Derek and I will continue to work together at Rob Roy for the rest of the season and we are also committed to some coaching work abroad during the summer months, so talk of a disagreement is nonsense. Lindsay added " He is leaving, but this is no spur of the moment decision as he has kept both me and the club officials in the loop since a couple of Ayrshire clubs approached him last month with staggering management offers.

Back On Track.
Relieved Rob Roy manager Jimmy Lindsay saw his side scrape through to the third round of the Central League Cup on Saturday - overcoming a spate of injuries, tenacious opponents and a crisis of confidence.
Rabs who came into the game, having suffered three successive defeats, were 2-1 down at half-time against second division side Vale of Clyde. But the patched up Kirkintilloch side scored two second half goals without reply to triumph 3-2.
Lindsay said " It was probably the worst performance of the season - we were really poor. "Were now in a position where we're down to having only one sub because of injuries. "Were just glad to get through the tie.Jordan Smith came in for us in goals and did very well, changing the game with a penalty save.

Stop the free gifts
Rob Roy gaffer Jimmy Lindsay has blamed " giving away goals" for his team's third successive loss.
Rabs slumped to league defeat against Petershill after leaking two goals in the first six minutes of the match. A spirited comeback fell short with Petershill finishing 3-2 winners in front of the disappointed home supporters.
It followed Rob Roy's 2-1 friendly loss against Broxburn Athletic and a last minute Scottish Cup defeat by Bo'ness. Lindsay said;" They were two goals up purely because of mistakes from us. " That means that in the last three games we have effectively given away five goals. " If we had nullified those chances we would still be in the cup and would be in a better position in the league. "We have to work out where we are going wrong and stop it now.

A Disastrous stoppage time collapse put paid to Rob Roy's Scottish Cup dreams on Saturday.
Rabs seemed to be cruising through the fifth round tie against Bo'ness leading 2-1 after 90 minutes despite spurning multiple opportunities to extend their lead. But two stikes in as many minutes left the home side heartbroken as Bo'ness marched on in the competition with a 3-2 win.
Gaffer Jimmy Lindsay said that the defeat was the worst he'd experienced at the club. " I'm extremely disappointed for the fans who turned out in force to cheer us on.

Gaffer Jimmy Lindsay said that a couple of defensive lapses left his team facing an uphill battle.

Rabs left on ice again
Rob Roy fans were left frustrated for the THIRD Saturday in a row as freezing temperatures once again put paid to their team's progress in the Scottish Cup.
The fourth round match against Rosyth was postponed after the Adamslie Park pitch once again failed an inspection. Manager Jimmy Lindsay said " The pitch was nearly there and we were training on it by noon on Saturday. "Having said that though, the ground still had a bit of frost on it and so the decision to call of the game was correct.
This Saturday will hopefully see Rabs finally play their long-delayed cup march - with the weather forecast looking promising.

Rabs' league hopes fade?
Rob Roy gaffer Jimmy Lindsay has admitted his side's league challenge could be over for another year after an entertaining tussle against Ashfield led to two dropped points.
Rabs went quickly 2-0 up in the match on Saturday, but a spirited fight back meant the Kirkintilloch team had to settle for a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes of often thrilling football.
Wins at the week-end for leaders Auchinleck and Petershill mean that Rob Roy now trail their title rivals by 11 and 9 points respectively.
Lindsay told the Herald; " It will be very difficult to catch them now and we'd probably have to win every single game to even have a chance.
" Having said that , if we can finish third it would be a real achievement and we're still in both cups.

On a Day of deteriorating overhead conditions that saw numerous pitches rained off despite having passed morning inspections, Duncansfield was in a near perfect condition for the second round clash of the neighbours.

Four goals in the second 45 minutes secured the 4-2 victory which kept Rabs flying high in the league with a match against table-toppers Auchinleck Talbot this Saturday promising to be one of the games of the season. Lindsay told the Herald " To be honest even when we were two goals down we were ok and playing well. Rabs boss points to the positive
A last gasp wonder strike meant Rob Roy had to settle for a single point on Saturday, but gaffer Jimmy Lindsay was philosophical about his team's league tumble.
The 2-2 draw with Pollok meant Rabs remain unbeaten in competitive games since their opening league fixture way back in August. It's an impressive record but, after going 2-1 up with just 10 minutes to go, the result was still a slightly disappointing one - with third placed Rabs losing ground to league leaders Auchinleck Talbot.

GOAL RUSH FOR RABS
A merciless performance by Rob Roy's strike force saw the Kirkintilloch club coast into the third round of the Scottish Junior Cup on Saturday - after a 11-1 routing of hapless Highlanders Burghead Thistle.
The away match meant hours on the road for Jimmy Lindsay's squad, but the players lost no time in getting on the scoresheet - taking just nine minutes to score the opener and powering to a 7-1 lead at half-time. A delighted Lindsay told the Herald ; "It was a great all-round performance and I think, above all, the players did a really professional job. "Going in at 7-1 at half-time it would be easy to come out in the second half and spoil it all. They didn't do that though and kept on playing until the end. " It's probably the best we've played since I got here.

Rabs bid for cup glory
Rob roy overcame fired-up opponents and a near-unplayable pitch to maintain their impressive recent runs of results on Saturday.
Rabs went behind twice in their West of Scotland cup tie against Thorniewood, but recovered both times before scoring the winner with just 14 minutes left on the clock. The 3-2 victory was the Kirkintilloch's team's fifth consecutive competitive win and was particularly sweet for gaffer Jimmy Lindsay.
The manager had been left frustrated in recent weeks after events conspired to leave his squad facing a month without a competitive game. But any worries that the momentum built up before the enforced break had been lost was swept away by a terrific team performance. Lindsay said" It was a fantastic result - particularly because we had to completely change the way we usually play because of the conditions.
" The pitch was doubtful after all the rain, but both teams did well to make a match of it.

Gaffer Jimmy Lindsay was delighted that his players were able to score freely for the second game on the spin, following the recent 7-3 drubbing of Glenafton - while tightening up at the back and keeping a clean sheet for the first time this season.
He said " I was a wee bit concerned about how the players would react to the hype after the Glenafton game, but they came out flying again " Diack had another great game and the club are delighted that he has been called up to the Junior Scotland Squad for their get-together later this month. He added "We were maybe due a performance like this though as we have several players who are playing at 70% fitness. "Thats no excuse though.

Late goal is a sickener for Rob Roy
A late equaliser meant Rob Roy had to settle for a draw on Saturday - but gaffer Jimmy Lindsay was philosophical about the two dropped points.
A 66th minute goal from Willie McLachlan looked to have secured the win for Rabs until Ashfield scored with little more than 10 minutes on the clock to grab a point.
The result maintained Rabs fourth place position in the league and saw them inch another crucial point closer to guaranteeing Premier Division football for the club next year. Lindsay told the Herald; "To be honest I thought we had done enough to win the game, although Ashfield kept plugging away admirably. "They had a fair few shots at goal and hit the woodwork a couple of times, but I thought we had more clear-cut chances. I would have hoped our strikers would have put one of them away but it is only the second time they've played together.

Rob Roy's new manager Jimmy Lindsay says he is ready to add new faces to the Adamslie Park squad as the club begins the count down to the 2011/12 season.

Rob Roy manager John Richardson has called on his talented young side to pull on their shooting boots in a bid to fire the club as high up the table as possible.
Another fine performance at Adamslie Park on Saturday saw a Craig Feroz double earn Rabs a point against third-placed Pollok, in a match the Kirkintilloch team could have won.
Richardson said; "We should have beaten them. It was a good point considering the way other results went. " The boys are playing well without killing teams off, but your always going to get that with a team where the average age is around 21.

Stunning win for Rob Roy
Rob Roy manager John Richardson has praised his players after they sent high-flying Irvine Meadow out of the West of Scotland Cup.

Glens try again in Scottish Cup
Glenrothes will make a second attempt to play their Emirates Scottish Junior Cup tie against Kirkintilloch Rob Roy on Saturday.
A snow-bound Warout Stadium pitch put paid to the prospect of last week-end's fifth round tie going head. Officials will be hoping the winter weather at last relents on Saturday, so that Archie Wyse's team can bid for a place in the quarter finals of the national competition.
The manager had sounded bullish before Saturday's postponement, commenting, " On our day, I firmly believe we are capable of matching any junior team and, hopefully, we'll play to the standards we are capable of. " But we will have to play exceptionally well against an excellent side."
Rob Roy, who play in the top division of the West of Scotland set up - arguably the most powerful in the country - are expected to bring a large support through for the tie and Glens' officials hope local supporters will match the commitment.

Bad boy Carter saw red for swearing at the assistant referee just minutes into the second half. Furious Rob Roy manager John Richardson had no sympathy for his defender who will be fined for the incident. Richardson said; " How can you tell an official that and not be sent off? The important thing is the boys dug in and got three points". With Forfar West End and Hill O' Beath's third round Scottish Cup tie yet again a victim of the weather, Rabs will have to wait at least another wek before heading east to face the eventual winner.

"Even last Thursday we turned up at Kirkintilloch High School to find we could'nt train because the astroturf pitch was waterlogged. "I'm delighted with the boys and their efforts - after what wasn't the greatest of preparation, Saturday's result was a tribute to their hard work.

Rabs wing man Anderson aims to fly high over Largs
Largs Thistle will have to put the shackles on a wing talent who is attracting rave notices in Junior circles if they are to progress into the Emirates Scottish Cup quarter finals.
The sensational form shown by Rob Roy's flying wide man Grant Anderson has attracted more than just recognition by Senior scouts, judging by his inclusion in the Scotland squad which is meeting at Hannah Park tomorrow.
Yet,the very fact he is likely to be a marked man when taking the field for his team's crunch fifth-round encounter at Barrsfield today - weather permitting - is not hanging heavily on the shoulders of the 22 year old.
Anderson's talent have brought comparisons with other outstanding Junior wingers of recent times, Mark Corcoran and Dougie Imrie.
But the youngsters down to earth take on the clash it is just part of his footballing learning curve. That aside, he is simply focused on helping the Rabs take another step towards tasting long overdue Scottish Cup glory.
It is nearly 40 years since the famous Kirkintilloch outfit last got their hands on the game's Holy Grail but, playing as they have of late, there is a growing optimism this can be their year again.

Easton said; " If I thought it was better for this club to walk away then I would. " But if I go, half the dressing room would collapse.
For Rob Roy it means they go into this Saturday's Fifth-Round Scottish Cup-tie at Largs Thistle on the back of excellent wins over Kilbirnie in the last round of the cup and the victory in Springburn.

Rabs left to pay penalty after ref blow
An unhappy John Richardson has blasted the commitment of his five RobRoy summer signings.... and the referee's decision to red-card skipper Kevin MacDonald while it was still goal-less in last Saturday's clash at Kilbirnie Ladeside.
Rabs crashed to a 5-1 defeat in Ayrshire and Richardson believes the decision to send off MacDonald just before half-time "killed the game" He said" At any level of football I've been involved with, I have never seen a decision like that " Whether it was a penalty is beside the point , but to give anybody a straight red card when the ball is blasted through a ruck of players straight at you is unreal.
" Even one of the Kilbirnie players was pointing to the ball mark above Kev's right nipple on his chest and shoulder. Then in the second half the decision for our penalty is more clear cut, but the referee decides to give the Kilbirnie player a yellow card.
" The reason there is mayhem in senior football is because the senior officials are not correcting things in the junior game before the refs move up to senior level.

UPS AND DOWNS FOR ROB ROY
Rob Roy gaffer John Richardson has urged more consistency in their play or risk turning this season into a rollercoaster, yo-yo campaign.
A crazy game of football last Saturday saw Rob Roy cruising to a comfortable victory, 4-1 ahead at the interval. However, slack defending and complacency allowed opponents Vale of Leven to haul themselves back to 4-3, with the first round West of Scotland Cup tie eventually finishing with Rabs edging an astonishing 5-4 scoreline.
Richardson said;" Results are the most important thing, but that was an absolute game of two halves. " The message to the players at half-time was to go about things the right way or it would go to 4-2 , 4-3.
"I dont think Vale of Leven gave us anything different from the first half, I just think the second half mirrored previous form at the start of the season. " It certainly reared it's ugly head again and the only thing to come out of it is that we're in the second round.

Rabs ended their first year in the West Premier in the top half and with semi finals in both the West of Scotland Cup and Scottish Cup. And their out to spoil the party when champs Irvine Meadow unfurl the title flag against them in Saturday's league opener.
Gaffer Rich admitted; "Trying to top last season will be a real challenge. It could'nt have gone much better for us as a new team in the top division. But that has to be the aim, even though we will have a very different kind of pressure to deal with " Last season no one really spoke about us early in the season and I don't think anyone expected that much from us. "We didn't get off to a flying start or anything, but went along steadily for the first few months. "In many ways we went under the radar. It wasn't until the quarters and semis of the cups that people realised what we were doing.

Manager John Richardson told Herald Sport the players should help the club improve on what was an impressive first season in the top flight. He said; these are the kind of players you have to have to move your team on.

BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
John Richardson is already planning how he can help make next season even better than this one.
While Rob Roy await confirmation of their final league fixture against Scottish Junior Cup winners Auchinleck Talbot, manager Richardson is plotting ahead for seaon 09/10. The Kirkintilloch side have more than bettered expectations in their debut season in the Stagecoach Premier Division, securing a mid-table finish and earning semi-final spots in the Scottish Junior Cup and West of Scotland Cup.
However Richardson told Herald Sport the pressure is on to take the club one step further. He said; "We are still waiting on hearing when our last game against Auchinleck will be. "So things are ticking along and the boys are coming along to training to keep their fitness and sharpness up. " However the big question really is what can we do to improve on this season? " We have built a bit of a rod for our backs this season so everything we do from now on will have to be about getting even better.

SEASON TO REMEMBER
'We may have punched above our weight but what a fight it has been!' That was the message from Rob Roy manager John Richardson this week as he praised his players for making the club's first season in the Stagecoach Premier Division so memorable.
The Kirkintilloch side were languishing in the lower leagues a couple of years ago but, this season, are set for mid-table finishing in the top division and can look back on a year which has seen them reach the semi finals of both the Scottish Cup and West of Scotland Cup. Richardson said; We have secured top flight football for next season, have reached two semi-finals, given Pollok a run for their money, beat Petershill twice and beat Irvine Meadow. "What those boys have achieved this year has been fantastic and I can't praise them enough. "We probably have punched above our weight but all credit goes to the players for getting us to this level."

JOHN CAN STILL HAVE FINAL SAY
John Richardson insists Rob Roy can still qualify for the Scottish Junior Cup final - despite his side failing to make the most of home advantage in the semi-final first Leg.
Richardson's troops travel to face Talbot in the rematch on Saturday and the boss is convinced they can still pull off a shock. He said;" I'm delighted with my player's attitude and commitment but we know we face a tough task next week. We are capable of beating anyone in one-off matches so why not next week?.
A draw was probably a fair result despite Auchinleck having more possession they didn't really hurt us. The longer the game went on the stronger we became and we were unlucky with a few late chances.
"It goes to show how far this club has come in recent seasons as the support we got was fantastic, hopefully they will make the journey and cheer us on down at their place."

Plea to fans as Rabs prepare for semi-final clash
"HELP US MAKE HISTORY"
Football fans from Kirkintilloch and beyond have been urged to don red and black for the day and cheer Rob Roy towards the Scottish Junior Cup Final
The Rabs welcome Auchinleck Talbot to their Adamslie home on Saturday for the first of what promises to be two nailbiting legs of the semi-final. Manager John Richardson said everyone at the club is 'buzzing' over the prospect of Rob Roy's biggest game in decades, and he hopes anyone with an interest in backing their local junior team feels the same way. He said; "Any team with a large vocal support behind them has an extra man. "Auchinleck won't need to appeal for fans as they will bring a massive support. "We want to see Adamslie full so we can overshadow them. It would be disappointing if we couldn't get a great crowd for a match like this.

Resolute Rabs land blow on Peasy league hopes
Not for the first time this season Rob Roy's rope-a-dope tactics could not be mastered by a Super Premier leading light
It was Petershill's turn to fall victim on Saturday to the tried and trusted 4-5-1 game plan which has helped the Kirkintilloch outfit string together a six-game winning run. The Peasy paid the ultimate heavy price for their 2-0 Adamslie Park demise on account of relinquishing their previous top-of-the-table position to reigning champions Pollok, 2-1 victors over Vale of Clyde.
Delighted Rabs co-gaffer John Richardson said; " This system is one we have deployed in certain Scottish Cup ties because of a lack of available strikers, but the players adapted to it so wel that we are loathe to change things".

Peasy won't be mugs this time say's Rabs boss
Last time Rob Roy squared up to Petershill they were battered incessantly for 85 minutes. But in the final five, they broke up the park, grabbed the winner- and left Peasy rueing a string of missed chances. Now Manager John Richardson is hoping his counterpart Stevie Easton is suffering from memory loss and they dont come to Adamslie Park this week-end with revenge in mind.
He said; "Let's just say the storm we weathered that day lasted longer than the normal ten or fifteen minutes at the end of a game "They hit us with everything and we ventured forward in 85 minutes and scored the only goal of the game. Easty must have felt his team had been mugged". Appeal to fans for Rabs' crunch tie
UP FOR THE CUP
John Richardson has urged Rob Roy fans to help transform Adamslie into a fortress for their Scottish Cup clash against Glenrothes.
The Kirkintilloch side will welcome their Fife rivals for the Scottish Junior Cup fifth round tie on Saturday. Richardson said " Glenrothes plan to bring three or four bus loads through so we are looking for Rob Roy fans to come out in force. " For years, people have said that they want to see big matches at Adamslie again. This is one of those big games.
"I would hate to see the players' efforts in getting to this stage go to waste if only a handful of Rob Roy fans turn up. " We have the chance of getting to the quarter finals so it would be great if we had plenty of support to see us get there".
Mick Hughes, Steve Dymock and Brian Wardle are all cup-tied for the match.

Beating Lok roused up Rabs... but calm urged
for Glenrothes battle
Rob Roy co-bosses John Richardson and John Mitchell are working overtime to keep a lid on their shock troops' spirits ahead of a Scottish Cup tie against Glenrothes.
It's fully a fortnight since the Rabs put Pollok to the sword on their own turf and much more convincing fashion than a 4-2 scoreline portrays, if truth be told. The manner of that result has caused Adamslie Park confidence levels to brim over with a last 16 tie against the East Region cracks looming this afternoon. "The entire club from fans through to players has taken a huge lift from our win over Pollok".
One-time Maryhill stalwart Richardson insists it was not down to coincidence that his team hit the heights as the same time as midfielder Gary Carberry was making his return from a five week injury absence. He said; Mitch and I have known Cabs since 1996 and feel this is his best junior season by a country mile " He came back in against Pollok and totally ran the midfield, which is no mean feat considering the quality of players on show. His two goals were icing on the cake for someone who is what you could call a regular scorer. " We are bracing ourselves for a tough tie against Glenrothes, however if Cabs can continue on the same rich vein of form and we get other players responding to his promptings then I believe we have a decent chance.

SNOW GO FOR RABS
John Richardson has admitted the weekend's fixture washout couldn't have come at a worse time.
The Rob Roy manager was looking forward to the derby with Petershill but, thanks to snow and frozen conditions, saw the match called off.
The Kirkintilloch side played a bounce gameagainst Harestanes AFC on the Merkland Astro-Turf instead, however Richardson would rather his team built on last week's superb 4-2 win over Pollok. He said; " I dont mean any disrespect to Harestanes at all when I say I'd rather we had played Petershill. We really wanted to continue where we had left off against Pollok but any chance of building up some momentum has been taken from us.
"Harestanes put up a great challenge and almost all our players got a run-out, which is good for fitness".

FOUR - WARD!
Rob Roy shrugged aside relegation worries to beat title contenders Pollok in a six-goal thriller on Saturday.
The Rabs were two-up inside 12 minutes with goals from Gary Carberry and Michael Hughes stunning the Pollok supporters. The home team got one back in the 15th minute, but the two goal cushion was restored on 36 minutes by Jamie Docherty.
A tense final half-hour seemed likely when Pollok reduced the deficit to one in 57 minutes, but a second goal for Gary Carberry with 68 minutes gone was the last of the match which ended 4-2 for the Rabs.
Manager John Richardson was delighted with the result, coming at the end of a hard period for the club, which has slipped near the relegation zone. He told the Herald; " It was an important win for us as everybody around us in the league won as well. " It's a massive one for us and there won't be many teams who will go to Pollok and come away with four goals.

The Kirkintilloch side currently sit seventh but manager Richardson told Herald Sport his team deserve better. He said; "I'm not saying it is all down to luck but in recent matches we clearly haven't had the rub of the green.
" I really don't think our boys have got the rewards for their efforts."Other than against Vale of Clyde when we were very poor, I've nothing but praise for them over the last five games.

Rob Roy hit four goals on Saturday to reach the last 16 of the Scottish Junior Cup for the first time in six years. The Rabs beat last year's semi-finalists Thornton Hibs 4-0 and hope to take their winning form forward into the league.
Manager John Richardson said; "It gets us back to winning ways after the last two weeks where we have struggled a bit and suffered a wee blip in our progress. " Thornton Hibs were semi-finalists last year so it was a good win all things considered. "Now we can put the cup on the back-burner and hopefully this win has instilled a bit of confidence in the players.

Gilbert said; "Last season we had a really poor day when we lost to Lochgelly, but bounced back the next week to knock Glenafton out of the Scottish. " Hopefully we'll show the same sort of response to another disappointing result against Rob Roy.

Rob Roy boss John Richardson is sure his team can keep their place in the Super League Premier Division - as long as they make the most of eight crucial games.
After a promising start to the season the Rabs are beginning to struggle, with Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Vale of Clyde giving Richardson and the Rob Roy coaching staff and players plenty to think about. Richardson said; " That was a disappointing result which puts us in the mire. "We are far from doomed but unless we pick things up quickly, we are going to be in a fight until the end-of-the-season. " After the Scottish Cup fixture this weekend, we have Pollok and Irvine Meadow. " I can't see us getting much out of those games so that leaves us just eight matches to turn things around. " I reckon at least five wins out of those eight games will keep us in this division. Three wins, however and we are relying on other teams doing us a favour and getting results against those around us.

He said; " We have put in more than a few good performances but walked away with nothing so we are aiming to learn how to seal the points in the future. "Even when we haven't played brilliantly, there haave been times we deserved something but either didn't get the goals or conceded. "The break from playing has actually done us a few favours as we had some players missing who will now be back. "We will also have Jon Carter with us again. Rob Roy put Hi Hi to the sword
HI HI failed to get to grips with their West Superleague opposition in the third round of the Scottish Junior Cup last Saturday.
Rob Roy enjoyed much of the early possession, and Jackie Myles hit Haddington's first shot soaring over the bar from 20 yards after 16 minutes.
By midway through the first half, however, there were rumblings of discontentment from the home fans, and they saw little to lift their mood during the remainder of what was a relatively uneventful cup tie, with the scoresheet still blank after 45 minutes.
Rob Roy boss Richardson had strong words for his team at the interval and they gave him a positive response, Carberry's header narrowly missing the target within a minute of the restart.
The Hi Hi came closest to scoring midway through the second half when Rob Roy keeper Bell had to race back towards goal to clear an overhit passback. But within a minute they were a goal down when striker McQuilken hit a fine 20 yard shot beyond the despairing Andrew Stobie. A second home goal three minutes later ended the game as a contest. A long ball down the right caught out the visitors' defence and sub Docherty hit the second goal from eight yards out, aided by a deflection.
Haddington through on subs but Rob Roy were now well on top. The highlight of the later stages was three excellent saves from Stobie which kept the scoreline respectable, although in truth it would have flattered a home side which for long spells looked pretty ordinary.

But a quickfire double before the full-time whistle left them shell-shocked and without a single point to show for their efforts.
Richardson said;" To a man I cannot fault a single player "They played out of their skin, created chances and defended well when we were under pressure." However, with Rob Roy sitting fourth after eight games, Richardson is hopeful more people will give up a couple of hours on Saturday to watch their local team.

Daft goal blow any cup chance for Vale
Vale crashed out of the West of Scotland cup on Saturday despite a spirited late fight back against their Super Premier Division opponents. The Millburn men were poor in the first half and found themselves 2 down at the break, thanks to some sloppy play and a penalty that should never have been awarded.
Former Vale and Dumbarton player Chris Gentiles opened the scoring for Rob Roy after 19 minutes when a slack clearance fell to him 25 yards out and his first-time shot flew into the net. The visitors doubled their lead, thanks to a crazy decision in the 25th minute. Vale keeper Matt Carr dived at the feet of striker Jamie Docherty and knocked the ball away, but the referee surprised everyone by awarding a spot kick which Rob Roy captain Kevin McDonald blasted into the net, The visitors made it 3 on the hour mark when striker Paul McDougall headed home a right wing cross from Carter.
Vale come to life when Alan Filshie headed home a cross from substitute David McNaught on 68 minutes. Hamill then made an inspired double substitution with Martin and Meechan replacing Filshie and Montague, Within minutes Martin crossed for Meechan to force the ball home from close range. However, just as it looked like Vale could take the game to a penalty kick decider, they lost another soft goal 5 minutes from time when a weak shot seemed to be heading into the arms of Carr until Vale skipper Davie Grant sliced his clearance and succeeded in sending the ball into his own net.

Kirkintilloch Rob Roy moved up to third place in the Stagecoach West of Scotland Premier League with an emphatic win on Saturday. Goals from Paul McDougall (2) and Jamie Docherty during a blistering first half were enough to secure the 3-0 victory over league rivals Neilston.
The win means the Rabs are now just a point behind second placed Pollok and two shy of League leaders Glenafton Athletic. Rob Roy manager John Richardson said;" If They want to halt the league right now I'd be more than happy. " I've said before that these are the kind of games we need to get points in so I would have been happy for a 1-0 win. " We got three in the first half and maybe it could have been more. The boys did themselves proud as it was a comfortable victory which they worked very hard to earn".

' Ton gaffer gutted by defeat
Neilston boss Colin Lindsay insists his men are shooting themselves in the foot each time they step on the park by conceding soft goals early on.
The Brig O'Lea side found themselves 3-0 down at the interval against Kirkintilloch following a quick fire double from Paul McDougall and A Jamie Docherty strike. Gaffer Lindsay admitted the second 45 minutes became an excercise of damage limitation as the game was already beyond his men.

PAISLEY DAILY EXPRESS 11th OCTOBER 2008
Colin Lindsay is determined to ensure his Neilston charges dont get embroiled in a relegation battle this term and is desperate for three points against newly-promoted Rob Roy this afternoon. The Brig O' Lea side have taken just 3 points out of a possible 12 this season and are currently in 9th spot in the table.
Lindsay told Express Sports, "Rob Roy have won quite a few games by the odd goal this season and we know they will be a big strong well organised side, But we're the home side and the onus is on us to go out and put on a show and get the three points.

Rob Roy manager John Richardson told Herald Sport he is delighted Ross decided to sign on the dotted line. He said;"Ross has a cracking pedigree. " He's only 20 but he has played with Celtic since his early teens and has been capped by Scotland

New team search for forward Deas
Rob Roy have given Ryan Deas their best wishes after the young striker left to try and find first team football elsewhere.
The forward was the Kirkintilloch side's top scorer in his debut season but missed over a year of football after suffering a horror injury. Deas was rushed to hospital after breaking his ankle in three places and his shin bone during a pre-season friendly against St Anthony's in August 2007. He has been used sparingly by manager John Richardson since returning to action and, following heart-to-heart talks last week, has decided to find a new side.
Richardson said; " I have known Ryan since I was youth coach at Dumbarton and I knew he could do a job for us. "However he is still a young boy and at his age he needs to be playing football every week which is something we unfortunately can't guarantee right now.

Rob Roy edge to narrow cup win
Kirkintilloch Rob Roy progressed to the second round of the West of Scotland Cup on Saturday after a late equaliser spared their blushes. The Rabs went 1-0 down after 30 minutes to Larkhall Thistle and it remained that way until deep in the second half. With the clock ticking down, it took a 87th minute goal from James Lennox to take the game into a penalty shoot-out, which the Adamslie Park men won 5-3.
Manager John Richardson admitted that his side had not played well and could easily have been sent crashing out of the tournament at the first hurdle. He told the Herald; "We got a result but that's about all that can be said for the game.

CHRIS ZOKS IT TO ROB ROY
Ex-Rob Roy hero Chris Zok turned villian when he played a part in the Kirkintilloch dide's first league game defeat of the season.
The striker, who scored 31 times for for Rabs last season got his new team Glenafton's first as they fought back fron a two-goal deficit to win 3-2. The Rabs had stormed into an early lead thanks to goals from Karl McCrone and Paul McQuilken within the first ten minutes. However , Zok's strike, alongside a Haswell own goal and a quickly taken Doyle free-kick, secured all three points for Glenafton.
Rob Roy manager John Richardson said; "We definetly could have gotten a bit more out of the match, especially after going 2-0 up, but we lost some poor goals, "It was really down to us not killing the game off which is something we have to doin this division.

UNBEATEN RUN
Kirkintilloch Rob Roy maintained their unbeaten run record in the Super League Premier Division with a goaless draw against Irvine Meadow on Saturday.
In windy conditions at Adamslie Park, both teams had plenty of chances to hit the back of the net but, ultimately, neither could break the deadlock in an evenly-contested game. The draw leaves the Rabs fifth in the league with two draws and a win in their first three games of the campaign.
Rob Roy manager John Richardson said; "There was not much between the two teams and it was simply a matter of who could take their chances. "It was a decent enough game to watch, but neither team took the opportunities that fell to them. "We've taken five out of a possible nine points now ans if we'd been asked at the start of the year whether we'd have been happy with that we would probably have taken it.

Rob Roy celebrated the start of a new season with the unfurling of the West of Scotland First Division flag. The Kirkintilloch side romped to victory in the league last season and raised the flag ahead of their Premier Division debut against Arthurlie.
Despite going down 1-0, the Rabs put in a storming second half display to earn a deserved draw. Manager John Richardson said; " Before the game, all the papers seemed to be talking about how good Arthurlie were so we set out in the first half to suss them out. "But after they got their goal. I dont think anyone could have argued we deserved to score at least three or four. "The entire squad is on a high after that performance as it proves they can hold their own against top sides.

'BACK THE RABS'
Football fans have been urged to turn out to support Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.
The Adamslie side make their debut in the Super League Premier Division on Saturday in a mouthwatering clash with Arthurlie.
However despite successive league titles and promotion under manager John Richardson, and plans for a state-of-the-art ground being considered by East Dunbartonshire Council, the club is struggling to get fans through the turnstyles. Richardson said for £5 they could watch football in a league which is every bit as good and competive as the Third Division. "Every match will be a cup final for us this season as we'll have all the top teams in the West, like Irvine Meadow, Pollok and Auchinleck Talbot taking us on at Adamslie. ZOK HEADING FOR ADAMSLIE EXIT
Rob Roy's top striker has asked to leave the Kirkintilloch club. Last season's top scorer handed in a transfer request to manager John Richardson on Friday.
Richardson told Herald Sport he was surprised by the request but wishes the player every success in his footballing career. He said;"It's a bit of a blow but players come and go and that is the nature of the game. "I imagine there will be plenty of fans upset to hear he wants to leave as anyone who scores more than 30 goals in a season is naturally going to be popular. "However, there is no point trying to hold onto someone who has made their mind up about something like this.

It's a Zok-out after Rabs grant strike star surprise move
Big guns queuing up to sign goal machine
Prolific marksman Chris Zok may be on the verge of sparking a transfer bidding war after asking away from Rob Roy. So reckoned Kirkintilloch co-gaffer John Richardson after indicating his club's willingness to listen to offers for the former Harmony Row front man who netted 31 goals in his debut season last time out. The scoring exploits have had already caught the attention of a number of West and East Region clubs, most notably Camelon whose new manager Greg Denham had a signing approach rebuffed by the player last month.
This latest development will more than likely cause ex-Motherwell defender to renew his interest, but he faces strong competition for the 21-year old's signature from former club Linlithgow, actively seeking a striking replacement for Hamilton bound Brian Carrigan. Zok's name is also believed to be high up on the shopping lists of Super Premier trio Irvine Meadow,Cumnock and Petershill.
His substitution at half-time in Rob Roy's shock opening League Cup defeat by Cumbernauld looks to have been the last straw for the player who was not even considered for the bench for Saturday's 4-0 victory over Dunipace.

SEVENTH HEAVEN AS RABS WIN YET AGAIN
Rob Roy continued on the pre-season goal trail with an emphatic 7-2 thrashing of Blantyre Vics on Saturday.
The Kirkintilloch side used the friendly with the Central Division 2 outfit yo bed in their new-look squad - which includes 12 new players. Last season's top goalscorer, Chris Zok took less than a minute to get his name on the scoresheet, with Paul McQuilken securing a 2-1 lead before the interval. In the second half, Rabs turned on the style, setting up camp in the opposition half. Goals from McQuilken,Billy Jones and a double from Grant Anderson secured the win and Rob Roy's unbeaten pre-season run.
The victory follows a 5-4 friendly win over Rutherglen Glencairn last Wednesday. Rob Roy came from behind three times to earn the victory.

KIRKINTILLOCH HERALD 30th JULY 2008
Rampant Rob Roy go on the goal trail
Rob Roy manager John Richardson is quietly confident after watching his team secure two easy pre-season victories.
The Adamslie side beat Renfrew 2-0 before trouncing Benburb 6-0 in last week's friendlies. A Chris Zok double gave the Rabs the win over Renfrew. Against Benburb, strikes from Billy Jones, Paul McQuilken, Stuart Morrison, a Paul Craig double and an own goal sealed the victory. The win means Rob Roy, who have 12 new players on their books, are so far unbeaten in pre-season. They have scored 11 and only conceded once in three games.
However, Richardson has urged caution as his team continue preparations for life as the newly-promoted team in the Premier Division. Richardson said; "Im not going to be singing and dancing yet but the team is slowly starting to come together. "I dont many disrespect to the teams we have come up against, but they are not the kind of opposition we will be playing in the Premier Division. "We have yet to play the Polloks or the Arthurlies of the world and we won't know how we compare to them until a few games into the season. "We have taken these teams on to improve our fitness and, to that end, everything is going to plan.

Newcomer Paul Craig equalised in the 35th minute before Billy Jones gave the Rabs the lead 15 minutes before full time, Paul McQuilken added a third in the 86th minute. Richardson said; "There was definately a wee bit of ring rustiness from all involved but it was a good game for us to play.

I'm sticking with Rabs
John Richardson has pledged his future to Rob Roy after rejecting a move to Albion Rovers.
The Rob Roy boss was approached about becoming assistant manager at the Third Division side by the Rovers' new gaffer, Paul Martin. However, the lure of leading his newly-promoted team in the Super League Premier Division was too tempting a prospect for Richardson to walk away from. He said "Paul was manager at Dumbarton while I was in charge of their under 19 squad so he spoke to me about the assistant manager job. "But I'm committed to everything I am doing at Rob Roy right now and turned him down. "I suppose it shows I'm doing something right but there are other people at the club who are just as important, if not more so, to make sure things run smoothly here. "Besides, I've just signed ten players for Rob Roy. There would be no way I could do something like that and then just disappear out of the door".

Shop window opens...with bargains in store
Among those coming to terms with being surplus to requirements are a number of last season's triumphant Super First Division title-winning squad at Rob Roy.
Vastly experienced midfield duo Stevie McPeake and Paul Campbell are toying with the prospect of dropping straight back down with relegated Kilsyth Rangers with whom, they have trained in recent weeks. And terracing jungle drums reckon highly rated Kirkintilloch striker Clinton Maxwell is also on the brink of committing himself to a second successive Super First campaign at Renfrew. Another of the unwanted Rabs aces, Ritchie Chang, has found himself somewhat spoilt for choice since word of his freed status was announced. The skillful wide player has already held tentative signing talks with Kilbirnie Ladeside. However knowing he is also in demand by Super Premier pair Beith and Neilston mat prove too much of a lure for Chang to resist.
Meanwhile, I hear Rabs striking sensation Chris Zok-scorer of 31 goals in his fledgling Junior season-has rebuffed an audacious signing approach from East Region cracks Camelon. Zok insisted on staying put with his Kirkintilloch club much to the delight of bosses John Richardson and John Mitchell whose own team building plans continued apace last night with yet another recruit - one time Petershill shotstopper Anton Nugent following his release by Dumbarton. The Kirkintilloch side have opted for an all change personnel policy with an apparent "revolving dressing room door" that has seen 20 changes during the close season. Ritch admitted; "We might have come up as champions, but Mitch and I felt our squad needed to be bigger, stronger and with a few more strings to our bow to stand any chance of hacking it with the big boys. "Losing 4-1 against Arthurlie in the Central League Cup semi final was a harsh reminder of the gap that had to be bridged if we wanted to do more than simply make up numbers in the season ahead. The hard fought win was enough to guarantee Rabs West of Scotland Premier Division football next season, with three games left to play. And manager John Richardson is determined to to clinch the three points needed to see his team go up as champions. He said; "Although it's great to secure promotion, we are not jumping up or down yet because we need one more victory to win the title. Although Rabs have made huge progress in the last two years, Richardson is remaining realistic about the team's chances next season. He said " The aim is to finish one place above relegation. " It's pie in the sky if anyone thinks we are going into the Premier Division and win the league. There won't be one easy game - every match will be a cup final for us. Cup exit stuns Rabs boss
John Richardson has backed his players to recover from Saturday's cup disappointment and put in a performance to make their fans proud.
The Rob Roy manager said everyone involved with the club is gutted after Musselburgh Athletic knocked them out of the Scottish Junior Cup on penalties at the week-end. The fourth round replay at Adamslie, which had been postponed twice, saw the Rabs go a goal down after 33 minutes, but strikes from Brian Vaugh and Gary Carberry kept the cup dream alive. Musselburgh made it 2-2 in the second half and went on to win the resultant penalty shoot-out 4-2.
Richardson said;" The supporters turned out in force and a lot of people came along to find out what the hype was about, but, if I was them, I'd still be wondering.

Rabs boss frustrated by cup tie delay
Rob Roy manager John Richardson was left frustrated after his side'sJunior Cup tie against Musselburgh Athletic was postponed for a second time on Saturday.
The third round replay had already been called off once due to a waterlogged pitch at Adamslie Park. On Saturday, following a pitch inspection, the referee decided the game would have to be delayed yet again because of icy conditions. Richardson said; "When the pitch was inspected at 8.20am it was 75% playable by 10am it was 90% playable, and by noon I felt it was 100% playable. "However the referee said that the touchline close to the trackside was too firm for an official to run down it and that the game would have to be postponed. "Myself and the players were disappointed that we weren't perhaps given a little more leeway."
Rabs are now hoping it will be third time lucky at Adamslie Park on Saturday as they attempt to reach the last 16 of the prestigious competition.

A local referee ruled Adamslie Park unplayable after an early-morning pitch inspection. But Richardson said;"We worked on it all morning and to say the reason for calling it off was the surface was unacceptable. "It was down to the fact that the the line for the linesman to run up and down was a bit hard. "We offered to cover it with sand but the so-called referee didn't want to know.

Soggy pitch will not dampen Rob Roy cup spirit
Rob Roy manager John Richardson insists a waterlogged pitch won't dampen his side's Junior Cup spirits. The Kirkintilloch side's fourt-round replay with Musselburgh Athletic on Saturday was called off thanks to the awful weather. But Richardson is sure his players will be just as keen to get into the last 16 by winning this weekend's rearranged tie. He said "it was only a small area of the park which was waterlogged and we were all sure the game would go ahead, but the referee felt it wasn't worth taking the risk.
"Considering, in the first match, we were 2-0 down and fought to earn a replay, the boys were really up for it and looking to finish the job.
